Splavovi

Some of Belgrade's splavovi -- or river rafts that are floating clubs/restaurants/weekend/summer houses, there's even one that's a hostel.

Happy Valentine's Day

So many daily-city-bloggers are posting with a Valentine's theme today, so I looked through my pictures to try to find something with a heart and found this from last spring.

This picture was taken by B, who is much better at taking pictures of people than I am.

A corner on Njegoseva street

Just a nice silvery building and a kiosk (the red thing). Kiosks are little shops where you can buy cigarettes, candy, various kinds of alcohol, bus tickets, recharge your mobile phone, yada yada yada.

Pireaus Bank Girls

It's been rainy and gloomy so here's a snap from last week
The girls were doing a promotion for the Greek bank Piraeus.

A Sort of Homecoming

Plenty of excitement in town today because there was a homecoming celebration in the town center for our tennis champ Djokovic. Unfortunately, this was the best picture I got, when he was leaving after the event.
Check out this youtube video from today: Nole sings with Belgrade. :)

Fotokopirnica

Do I need to explain what fotokopirnica means?
I didn't take this picture, B did.
The guy in the boots is a worker from a nearby construction site, just so you don't think that's typical city fashion here. :)

Apartment Buildings

I have two pictures today of apartment buildings
This is a residential building
It's one of a group of three, here you can see all three from a distance:

Of course communist-era architecture.
Edited 31st Jan 2008: To read something about these buildings, check out this blog: Nothing Against Serbia

Kalemegdan Park, Again

It's been slightly warmer outside, great for walks (and other things) in the park.

On an unrelated note, I thought I'd share some of my bookmarks with you, other photobloggers. Here's a link to an article called 4 Easy Photoshop Techniques to Make Your Pictures Pop. I think at least one or two of them create a nice effect.

On a street near Kalemegdan

On the advice given atA Walk Through Durham Township I've started working with my pictures in 16-bit versus 8-bit files and I think it's made a nice difference with their color and depth. If you take your pictures in RAW and you keep them in 8-bit from start to finish, you should try 16-bit and see if you like the difference.
